Humahuaca Argentina

Humahuaca is a small city in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the Paris conference in 2003. According to the 2001 census [INDEC], it has a population of 11,369 and is the main town (seat) of the Department of Humahuaca. The city is well-known for its location at the Quebrada de Humahuaca, along the Eastern valley of the central Andean Altiplano. Humahuaca is situated north of Tilcara and Purmamarca, in the colorful valley of Quebrada de Humahuaca. In the heart of the village, there is a church tower visible from the main square. At 12 pm, a clock in the tower chimes, a small door opens, and a figure of Saint Francisco Solano emerges and makes the sign of the cross.
